A magic party is suitable for anyone and just about any fantasy world. If your kids or even adult guest of honor is into J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings Trilogy the magic theme is perfect for them. The same goes if your child is into the Harry Potter books, you can combine the theme of magic with a Harry Potter theme and create a wonderful party.

Anything goes as far as decoration is concerned with a magic party. Put up stars and moons, cast shiny glitter on the table and give out lots of cool magical toys as party favors for the kids. For an extra special trick fill clear or nearly clear balloons with a few pieces of glitter or confetti and blow them up. This also works by placing an activated mini glowstick inside each balloon. When you turn the light it creates a magical glow and the kids love it.

Encourage the kids to come dressed for a specific magical theme, be it as hobbits, elves or wizards and witches. You can even specify the dress for a certain magical world such as the wizarding world created in J.K. Rowling’s books. Be sure to order lots of favors in bulk for the kids just in case someone forgets to dress up you can have magic wands and fun jester’s hats or magicians top hats for them to wear.

To entertain the kids think about hiring a real magician to perform tricks or a balloon artist to create unique animals for the guests. A hired performer can be inexpensive if you only hire them for an hour or two and it serves as a special treat for the kids. For inspiration on food for the magic party take a page out of the story books. Serve up eye of newt punch made of lime green kool-aid and lemon lime pop. Freeze a tray of ice cubes with one grape in each cube for the newt’s eyes.
